The cell management within a Lithium Ion battery system is vital to managing the overall module performance, cycle life and
ensuring total safety. To maintain a healthy battery system, our BMS are an essential component to the Goodwolfe system, balancing the cells, monitoring the cell voltages and temperatures and ensuring the system stays within its safe operating limits. Both the Goodwolfe Energy BMS provide very accurate reporting of battery state of health.
The Goodwolfe Energy Low Current Integrated BMS is suitable for low power applications that require minimal integration. The Low Current Integrated BMS consists of balancing and monitoring hardware that will continuously ensure that the cells are working within their operating levels in terms of voltage, temperature, current and state of charge. If an issue is identified, the BMS will open a solid state relay and prevent further discharge of the battery.
The Goodwolfe Energy CANBIS (CANbus Battery Integration System) is suited for higher current applications and those that require higher cell balancing currents. The system uses a CAN (Controller Area Network) system to communicate between our cell management modules and the CANBIS control unit. The CANBIS control unit then manages the cells, contactors and sensors and provides accurate reporting on system operating conditions, and maximum available performance. The CANBIS is available in two configurations, HOTEL services and Electric Drive.
The HOTEL Services CANBIS allows a lithium-ion battery pack to emulate the functionality of conventional lead acid, negatively grounded, low voltage batteries. This system therefore allows for the direct replacement of existing lead acid systems with significant advantages in terms or power and weight. The Electric Drive CANBIS is designed for electric drive systems or systems
that require complete isolation through three or morecontactors.
The CANBIS system can be fully integrated with a master controller to provide accurate information on battery state of health, maximum charge and discharge currents and all other aspects required to use the battery. All of this information is provided over either a CAN2.0B or a CAN J1939 interface. We are also able to offer a touch screen that can provide all of this information in a quick and easy to read format for the operator.
